Agreement signed with Ghent City Council

March 2011
On 16th March 2011 three parties signed an agreement to ensure the preservation of Maarten Van Severen’s archives at the Ghent Municipal Archives for a minimum of 25 years. The three parties were the City Council (represented by Lieven Decaluwe, the Alderman for Culture, Tourism and Festivities, and Paul Teerlinck, Town Clerk), the Van Severen family (represented by Maarten Van Severen’s widow Marij de Brabandere and his son Hannes Van Severen) and The Maarten Van Severen Foundation (represented by Marc Dubois, the chairman of the Board of Directors, and Dieter Aerts, member of the Board of Directors). In addition to the deposit of the archives, the agreement also regulates the rights of ownership and accessibility to the archives. The archives remain the property of the family, but they have handed guardianship to The Maarten Van Severen Foundation. The agreement was signed in the Austrian Salon at Ghent Town Hall.
