On this year’s Heritage Day, the Maarten Van Severen Foundation joined forces with Ghent’s Municipal Archives, which organised a series of lectures on the topic of the ‘Fake’. Making use of Maarten Van Severen’s archives, Eva Van Regenmortel demonstrated that the authenticity of archives is vulnerable at several points in the process of inventorisation. Examples of this are erroneous interpretations and archive items that are removed from their original context.
