The archive unveiled

On 28th May The Maarten Van Severen Foundation puts the database of the Maarten Van Severen archive online. Work has been in progress on the inventory of this archive for the past three years, with support from the Flemish authorities. It was Maarten Van Severen himself who wanted his archive to be made accessible to researchers, new generations of designers and devotees of his work. The Maarten Van Severen Foundation found a key partner in De Zwarte Doos (The Black Box), the Ghent City Archive, where the archive has been stored since late 2008. The database which makes the archive searchable is linked to an image database, thus providing immediate illustration of every archive project file. Interested parties can look up a project in the database and then request retrieval of the archive file and view it in the Black Box reading room.
